I'll write a REALLY good one.

I am officially married.

Jon and I had a small ceremony that we designed ourselves (complete with handwritten vows) that was primarily performed by my roommate, who is an ordained Minister. It took place out in the countryside by a small fire around 10pm at night. We did have a photographer who took 3 rolls of pictures (an old friend of mine from high school whos VERY good at photography) so we should have some pictures to share in the future.

We wanted something small after discussing the fact that we didn't want to be completely in debt before even starting a life. It turns out, the way we did the ceremony was beautiful and perfect for us in every way and its all in thanks to Trey, Karly, Terry, and Melissa. I just want to officially thank those 4 for being a part of it all. =)

Anyhow, Jon also changed his name officially with the state, so after next week I will be otherwise known as Samantha Lockwood.

There WILL be a small, no wait...LARGE..very LARGE party sometime soon...possibly around Spring Break? This will be the "reception", as it were. I'll let everyone know ahead of time, I swear =)

I'm so fuckin happy I could just spontaneously combust.

So, Merry Ho Ho to me..I got my car back on Monday. Not before I had to make a BIG deal out of it. So, forgive me while I run down on this:
I called them going..hello wheres my car. Service guy transfers me to parts..apparently he cant walk the 5 paces to the parts counter door and ask. So parts guy says..yeah we gave them the tranny already and we dont give it to them till theyre ready for it. So i kindly asked the guy why service would transfer me to him. He didnt have an answer for that, so I requested I be transfered back to service. I get the same dipshit whos like..hold on..*hold music for 3 minutes*..oh youll have to talk to your service agent whos not here right now..she'll probably be back tomorrow. Now at this point, I'm thinking..you people have had my car for 5 days now..and you have the tranny...but because my service agent (the person who set up my service) isnt there...you cant fix my fucking car? Excuse me. WTF please. I was like..well i was told that it would be Friday, and it wasnt and i was vaguely told Monday or Tuesday. Now, ive gone without a rental thinkin it would be done today. Dipshit says..oh so you werent given a time for it to be done. I tell him no as nicely as i could muster at the moment and I then proceeded to ask nicely if there was a service manager to speak with. Dipshit puts me on hold yet again for like 3 more minutes. He then says..itll be done today. Im like..end of business today? He says yes. So i take this at face value.

Get there at 4:15..hang around for 30 more minutes while they clumsily finish my car..bitch at the counter tells me the keys are in it..they arent..service guy has to run out and give them to me. And now..my so called "new" transmission feels much more shitty than the old one. I have GOT to go bitch at some point. I'm just holding onto the fact that maybe it has to break in a bit. eh.

Other than that..things are abso-tively excellent! Taking the pisshead cat to my moms for an attitude adjustment for an indefinite amount of time on Tuesday. (Still hafta wrap her presents) Jon and I both have to work Monday. Poor baby is working the whole weekend..12 hours today and 10 tomorrow =(. The money will be good..thats the only good thing.

So like..I know I've been posting a lot of quizes..but honestly its cuz there hasn't been much to talk about really. I was sick for a week..just now getting over that. Man, I haven't ever lost my voice that bad. But I'm doing MUUCH better now. I'm positive I just jinxed myself...

My car is fucked. Well, not totally fucked. So there was this recall back last summer that I had to have this oil kit put on my transmission to keep it from overheating and blowing up (hooray for honda for catching that). I get this thing put on and stuff is good, right...till yesterday. (Keep in mind, I only have like 22k miles on my car..and I LOVE my baby car) I'm driving home and my car decides to bank at like 6000 rpms on its own trying to get to second gear. I'm like WTF?! So I drive carefully home. Well, needlesstosay I was feelin so shitty that I didn't wanna deal with it, so I went ahead and drove back to work this morning. And low and behold..it happens again. I park at Hell, get out, go in and call Honda.

Honda lady goes "oh yeah..thats the transmission..call this number(^towing company number here) and tell them that you want it towed." So I ask, "Does my extended warranty cover this?" She answers, "Oh yeah. Completely. We will even give you a rental car for 3 days." Inside..I'm jumping up and down. This is why I paid out the ass for the warranty!

At any rate..new tranny..50/50 chance it'll be done tomorrow. If not, it'll be Monday, but they have a rental waiting for me. What do you know...insurance of some sort I actually can use! Honda service..without Honda quality..I mean really..Honda is NOT known for shitty stuff. This tranny issue is all over the net..apparently for a while..Honda didn't wanna own up to it. Boy, am I glad they did for me. Cuz..there was one time..in high school..when I had a new tire put on and the guys who did it, used a crowbar to pry my wheel covers off..broke one..and when I get there to pick it up..tried to tell me that it was like that when I brought it in..well..lets just say I made that fucker go buy me a new set while I waited patiently in the parking lot. And that was just wheel covers...

I didn't REALLY wanna hafta do that to Honda...for a tranny. =D

Other than "Merry fuckin Christmas..you need a new transmission", and being sick and blah for a week, everything is going great. =)

I'm hoping to start the whole quitting smoking process for my New Year's Resolution. I figure, I quit soda and coffee..two things I thought I couldn't live with..last year..I can do cigs..I'm sure of it. *crosses fingers*

Work Blahs and Thankfulness

I have to work this holiday to make up for some floating holiday time I took off earlier in the year. It's disheartening to have to be in this evil cave place, but the good news is, I have reworked the holidays for myself this year.
I think I will celebrate Thanksgiving not by food as usual, but by reminding myself of all the things I am thankful for. They are as follows, in no real particular order:

1. My love, Jonathan, for healing my heart, changing my life, and loving me the way he does while having high hopes that everything will work out in the end.
2. Karly, my best friend, for being there for me for over a decade, but most of all for having the strength to do the things she needs to do be happy and to watch the princess Darcy grow up.
3. My mom, for being the strong person she is, even though she can be a real bitch =) I still am thankful she is still with me, as she is the only real family I have as of yet.
4. My job, it pays the bills and pays for the things I need, and recently has been getting a bit better for me.
5. My health, which isn't perfect, but I am certainly still alive and kicking.
6. My major purchases: the house and my car. I never thought I would own a nice $30k car or my own house.(course I dont really own it, but its nice not to be in an apartment)
7. All my friends and acquaintances that have put up with me this year. I personally thank you for not killing me. =)
8. The earth. For not bringing a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, mudslide, volcanic eruption, fire, or flood my direction. (Thanks)
9. Technology, for keeping me connected to the people I can't always be with.

So..I suppose I get on these kicks where I write a good bit and then I 'pissadear' for awhile only to show back up unannounced =) I think I'm a pretty good Gemini, though, I mean..I might be flaky sometimes..but I NEVER drop anything for good. People and projects and stuff are always on my mind. Thats my problem..thinking too much..which leads to mental rants and contemplations that never get posted here...for whatever reason =P

Life has gotten pretty damn good. Credit card balance increases(which means my credit is getting better..yay)..being able to buy things I want..not just stuff I need..spending time with people I haven't seen in a while...time to myself without feeling guilty..doing things I've wanted to do in the past, but didn't. The list goes on. I'm happier than I have been in way too long.
Sometimes I'm so happy I almost don't know what to do with myself. Even work is shaping up, which is totally unexpected and long over due. I will certainly take what I can get in that department.

On the other (brighter)side of life, Jon and I couldn't be better. Well, we could, but situations are put in place to make that almost impossible. I take most things as happening for a certain reason, so I am not complaining. I'm just really glad hes enjoying the job he has now and that hes doing as well as he is.
High hopes. Things will work out.

On an off topic..I keep getting these collection notices for Chris in the mail. The messed up thing is..he's NEVER lived here and I don't think my name was ever associated with this debt. I wonder how the hell they got my address.

Rae..call me before the 18th. We still have extra tickets to RenFest. =)

I have gotten the whole week off next week paid.

Jeremy's sisters and their children were in Bogalusa and are rumored to have not evacuated. The whole area is down and no communication is expected soon. We will be driving down this weekend with supplies and gas. That area is not flooded, thankfully. His mom may even be driving in from Florida to help with the search as well.

If any of you or anyone you know would like to give us some supplies to take with to a local South Louisiana Red Cross or anything of the sort, gimme a call before Friday. We can arrange a drop off somewhere in Southern Louisiana. Tenative leave is Saturday. Its gonna be a long drive, but we do have places to stay in Baton Rouge and outside Shreveport, if needed.

More updates on the exact plan as time permits.

New Orleans and Biloxi/Gulfport - Hurricane Katrina

New Orleans. Beautiful history. Awesome people. Great food and atmosphere.
The whole city is being evacuated. The whole city is filling up with Lake Pontchartrain.

Biloxi/Gulfport. It is..er-was-gorgeous. My mom used to live there. I stayed there on the beach in a B&B once. White sand. Peaceful beaches. Nothing left..just debris. Its sad. So very sad.

I was afraid of this hurricane...of what it could do. I had this inexplainable feeling. I didn't know why I was so fearful, but I was. I have heard so many people talk about hurricane Camille in my life. Mostly family..telling of how buildings and businesses and families survived it. Some homes built in 1940 that withstood Camille(Cat.5 hurricane)...tumbled like wet cardboard under the wrath of Katrina. Now I know why I was so worried.

All those people in Louisiana and Mississippi who have no home and no real place to go. The whole state of Alabama is even without power. This isnt just one state..this is the whole Gulf Coast.

The beautiful south...dieing right before our eyes.

Mother Nature made herself quite clear this time.

I fear the worst right now. I'm afraid N.O will never be the same again. At the same time, I know us southern people never let anything get the best of us, but there is also another thing I know. Louisiana is a poor poor state. Its not like Florida. It doesnt have lots of money. It is going to need all the help it can get...any help..for the next 6-12 months, I suspect.

I have inquired to HR at work about what my options would be if I wanted to volunteer my efforts and take time off to go to Louisiana. After all...I was born there.

I dont have that much money, cuz of bills, but I can certainly hand out clothes and food and rations. If anyone else would like to join me, let me know. I will be making phone calls later this week about organizations that may want people and volunteers.

Rae..Im up for a roadtrip(if we can get there by car..if not..I can deal with a boattrip too)..would you be able to spare some time? =D

So another month has passed me by. Its definitely been extreme...and wonderful. I have been doing lots of thinking, that is, when my brain allows me control over what it does. Theres a part of me that thinks that all of what I am experiencing is all too good to be true, and then theres that part that just wants to revel in it. So half the time, I revel, and the other half I feel numb. I guess I really am waking up to reality. Things become much easier to deal with when you have someone that really encourages you. Someone who is driving toward the same point and wants to enjoy the ride to its fullest along the way.

Work has had me in a collage of knots lately. Im back working under the psycho-whore, who incidently, is going to be performing my review. I dont say that I work FOR her, because, well, Ive stopped doing what shes manipulated me into doing. I finally said, "Look, Im tired of not doing what I want to do for my development" (AKA: I'm pissed off and I'm not gonna take it anymore.) I think she finally got the picture. Now, if I can just keep from getting fired, and actually MOVE on like I've tried so hard to do for almost a year. If my job karma is trying to tell me something, would someone be so kind as to tell it that I truly get the picture.

Arlene is leaving for college next week. I cant believe it. We are all so proud of her. I wish her and Vernon all the best.

Next weekend I'm going to see my mom. We havent seen each other since Memorial Day. Boy, what a weekend that was. Have I learned from that? Why, yes, yes I have. Course, my mom is very interested in meeting the person who has totally captured my heart and changed my outlook on life. She even told me she was hoping I would meet someone like him.

Weird though...Karly...when have you EVER known my mom NOT to give the 3rd degree to any choice I have made? I really felt like I wasnt talking to my mom at all. I think shes getting "nice" in her old age. Its gotta be that..cuz I dont think its possible to reverse-menopause.

This past weekend had to be the shortest but longest weekend ever. It was incredibly surreal. I'm starting to really like this.
